There's something about Autumn/Winter that makes me want to wear dark, boring colours. I always seem to wear more black, brown and grey from October to December than any other part of the year.
The only exception to this is my collection of party dresses. No matter what the weather, if I'm going on a night out, I like to wear a nice, colourful dress. I've got everything from white to purple, and possibly every colour in between!
With this in mind, a brown dress would never normally take my fancy or make a dent in my wardrobe space. In fact, I don't think I've worn a brown dress since I was in the Brownies! But then I bought a dress a couple of weeks ago that changed all that.
I apologise for the slightly blurry quality of this picture (that, and my miserable expression - you'd think that wearing a new dress would put a bit of a smile on my face... haha!).
This dress definitely fits in with my usual A/W colour palette and looks very retro! I love the skater-style skirt too!
The dress comes with a slim black patent belt (as you may be able to make out around the waist) and it fits me perfectly! Now, I'm only 5ft 1.5in (the half is very important!) and I think the dress is quite short on me, so I can only imagine what it would look like on someone a bit taller!
It was £21.99 from New Look, and the starry necklace I'm wearing in the picture is also from New Look, but was £3 (reduced from £6).
I love anything with stars on it, as they have a special meaning for me, so I couldn't leave this necklace in the shop. But when I first got the necklace home, I had a change of heart and thought it looked a little chavvy.
Now I've worn it with a few high necked tops and dresses, I've changed my mind again and really like it! I think it goes really well with my new dress as well.
I'm planning to wear my new dress when I go out this weekend with black opaque tights and black patent courts (to match the belt). I think it would look good with bare legs and black peeptoes too, but that's only for when I've fake tanned my legs!
xXx
