The nights are drawing in...

There's something about Autumn/Winter that makes me want to wear dark, boring colours. I always seem to wear more black, brown and grey from October to December than any other part of the year.

The only exception to this is my collection of party dresses. No matter what the weather, if I'm going on a night out, I like to wear a nice, colourful dress. I've got everything from white to purple, and possibly every colour in between!

With this in mind, a brown dress would never normally take my fancy or make a dent in my wardrobe space. In fact, I don't think I've worn a brown dress since I was in the Brownies! But then I bought a dress a couple of weeks ago that changed all that.

I apologise for the slightly blurry quality of this picture (that, and my miserable expression - you'd think that wearing a new dress would put a bit of a smile on my face... haha!).

This dress definitely fits in with my usual A/W colour palette and looks very retro! I love the skater-style skirt too!

The dress comes with a slim black patent belt (as you may be able to make out around the waist) and it fits me perfectly! Now, I'm only 5ft 1.5in (the half is very important!) and I think the dress is quite short on me, so I can only imagine what it would look like on someone a bit taller!

It was £21.99 from New Look, and the starry necklace I'm wearing in the picture is also from New Look, but was £3 (reduced from £6).

I love anything with stars on it, as they have a special meaning for me, so I couldn't leave this necklace in the shop. But when I first got the necklace home, I had a change of heart and thought it looked a little chavvy.

Now I've worn it with a few high necked tops and dresses, I've changed my mind again and really like it! I think it goes really well with my new dress as well.

I'm planning to wear my new dress when I go out this weekend with black opaque tights and black patent courts (to match the belt). I think it would look good with bare legs and black peeptoes too, but that's only for when I've fake tanned my legs!

These boots were made for walking...

Don't you just hate it when you have a perfect picture in your mind of something you really want. It might be a coat, maybe a handbag, but in my case it was a pair of boots.

It all started around this time last year when I fell in love with a pair of black knee high boots with gold buckles in River Island. I tried them on, walked (well, tottered) around the shop a couple of times and convinced myself that I needed these boots in my life. I took them off, fully prepared to get them boxed up when I decided to check how much these little beauties were.

They were £80! I was gutted - there was no way I could justify spending that much on a pair of boots that I could only just about manage to shuffle across the floor in! So I left them there and searched high and low for a similar pair that weren't quite so much.

I never did find them. All I had in my head was this image of the River Island boots, and no other pair of boots quite matched up to them as far as I was concerned.

That is, until now. I went shopping on Saturday, not looking for boots specifically, but then I thought "What the hell, I'll see what's about!" and ended up venturing into Barratts. I promise it had nothing to do with the huge "20% OFF!" signs plastered in the windows...

Now, I don't know about you, but Lotus boots don't usually scream fashion to me. For some reason they always remind me of shoes that my nan used to wear... but now I know that you should never judge a book by its cover, or in this case, you should never judge a box by its lid.

These gorgeous boots are just what I've been looking for; the heels aren't too high, I love the buckle detail and they fit my leg perfectly!

As I mentioned, I found these in Barratts and they were £48 (reduced from £60). I'm not sure if the "20% OFF" offer is still on in stores, but it's still available online if you use discount code "EVERYTHING".

I'm off to give my new boots a quick polish before I wear them later on!

Welcome back...

Since May, I have been promising myself that I'd start my blog again, and it seems that now's as good a time as any! Better late than never, eh...

So just to jog your memory, my name is Kelly and I am a shopaholic! This blog is all about the things I spend my hard earned wages on, whether that be clothes, bags, nail varnish... you get the gist!

I'm open to all feedback on how to make the blog better (because let's face it, I haven't blogged in a very long time!), so please feel free to leave comments!

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it and buying things for it (any excuse to splash the cash!).
